Trust to train 70 new teachers a year

The Inspiration Trust is launching its own teacher training programme from September 2018.
The Trust has won approval from the National Council for Teaching and Leadership to train more than 70 new teachers a year.
The new recruits will get classroom experience at the charity's 14 schools in Norfolk and north Suffolk as well as partner schools across East Anglia, with expert training and tuition delivered at our curriculum centre in Norwich.
Depending on the subject trainees choose to specialise in, they could receive a salary during their training or a bursary of up to £28,000.
Inspiration Trust director of education Christine Counsell said: "Our new teacher training programme will do two crucial things.
"It will help attract some of the best graduates and career changers into teaching in our region, and bring their skills to bear in our classrooms.
"It will also provide greater opportunities for our home grown talent to get into schools and help continue the improvement in standards we've seen in recent years."
The Trust's Norwich curriculum centre is already home to a popular series of professional development courses for existing teachers.
Staff from more than 60 schools attended its courses last year, with this term's courses now underway.
"Like our professional development courses, which help to retain and develop teachers already in the profession, our teacher training programme will have a strong emphasis on subject knowledge and ensuring that teachers are confident experts in the classroom," said Ms Counsell.
"By focusing on a knowledge-rich curriculum approach, teachers will be better equipped to handle the new more academically-rigorous GCSE and A Level syllabi and to stretch pupils beyond them."
Inspiration Trust will award the Qualified Teacher Status element of the course, and trainees will also be able to study towards a university-validated post graduate certificate in education.
Partner schools include Bedford Free School, Samuel Ward Academy in Haverhill, and Cottenham Village College near Cambridge.
