Tasty trip gives budding chefs food for thought

Food technology students from The Hewett Academy had a taste of life in a professional kitchen as they went behind the scenes at a well-known Norwich restaurant.
The students were welcomed to Benedicts restaurant on Wednesday, September 26 by chef-owner Richard Bainbridge, who won BBC2’s Great British Menu in 2015 and went on to be a judge on the programme.
The veteran chef gave the students a guided tour of the busy kitchen, which serves up modern British food five days a week.
They also met the catering team and general manager at the restaurant, which opened in 2015 and has been named as one of The Times’ Top 100 Restaurants in the UK.
Hewett Academy food technology teacher Susan Smits said: “Our students were really inspired by this visit and it just shows how far food technology can take you!”
